Work for my Sequential Narrative class. We had to do a 4+ panel comic, and choose from one of five words provided for the theme. I chose 'longing'. Also, the project is to illustrate 'the hook', basically the twist a lot of comics have at the end.
Looks better in person, and I need to learn to work more tidily. With a ruler.

wow...that looks awesome...

love the branch work.

envious of your clean hand rendered type...

overall awesome job!

(bah...ruler. It looks great without straight lines...the shaky imperfect lines add much character to it!)

PLEASE KEEP THE REPORTERS AT BAY
I do declare this a thing of beauty! i like it!
This is OBSCENELY gorgeous from the flow of words and panels, the tree branches, along with the color palette itself, OH MAN. IT'S REALLY REALLY PRETTY :D And the story itself! There's something almost hauntingly melancholy about it.

“Christianity, if false, is of no importance, and if true, of infinite importance. The only thing it cannot be is moderately important.”
This is totally awesome. I love the techniques you used- especially the splatter-blow (oh that sounds bad) that you used to make those tree branches.. definitely awesome. Actually the one thing I can critique is that middle "o, this love can never be" panel breaks me out of it- you have the cat always on the left side facing right, and then the crow on the right side facing left- EXCEPT in that panel where you flip it. So for a moment I almost thought that the crow saying those words was a second crow... just one of those things.

That's all I could say for advanced critique anyway xD but... I think it's a gorgeous work overall. I wish I could see it in person! I know that scanners do murder on watercolors, and any pastel colors in general.. *_*;
I blew ink all over the page to make the tree! It got pretty messy actually. There's a lot of white out in this because of those damn branches. I should've shown you in class, I actually had it with me! Doh.

Sometimes I like the shaky line look, sometimes I regret doing it. I kinda regret it this time. I wish I had a more delicate hand for it, I tend to press.

I pulled out some ref when I was doing these and it ended up helping a lot. The cat is still off in a few panels, but I think I'll survive. But oh man! If you'd seen the very first sketches...rough.

Speaking of prints of this, guess what I'm bringing you? 8D

Thank you! I'm really surprised so many people are liking it, it's not like my usual stuff. XD

Thanks a bunch! that was a really nice comment. I've been trying to push myself into a bit more of a personal direction, so it really makes me happy to see people actually DO like that stuff! Who knew?

Hm, that's true, it does make it seem like a second raven. I hadn't thought of that (it's too bad about the text being right in that, or I could flip the panel..). Thanks a lot for the critique, though! Every bit is appreciated.

And yeah, there's a couple panels that aren't nearly as good. The worst one being the fifth panel, with the first raven close up- it pretty much looks NOTHING like that. The feeling was kept, though, I think. So all is well!
